Calvary Hosts Summer Reading Skills Program

Calvary will be hosting the Summer Reading Skills Program which are offered through Saint Louis University. Classes are taught by professional instructors from the Institute of Reading Development. Golf Outing

Plans for this year’s annual golf tournament are well underway. This year’s four-person scramble will be held FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 2013, at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. A barbecue lunch will be served prior to the tee off at 1:00 p.m. Participants and their families are invited to join us for a meal immediately following the tournament’s conclusion.

Proceeds from this tournament are used exclusively to assist Calvary families with financial needs. Calvary’s golf tournament has been a great blessing generating over $112,000 in the last eight years. Last year’s tournament raised $13,000 to help assist families . Flowers Brighten Mother’s Day Weekend

Our recent plant sale on Mother’s Day weekend was a wonderful event. The riot of color was a welcome sight after our cool, dreary Spring. Many shoppers took advantage of the beautiful weather to purchase gifts for Mom or to add color to their own yards. We thank all the volunteers that made the plant sale so successful. A huge thank you to Rose Hill Nursery and Trinklein Brothers Greenhouses for the amazing selection of high quality plants.

Phase 2 Construction Begins

On Thursday, May 9th, faculty and students were greeted by four flatbed trailers full of steel. This is the first delivery of steel that will be used in the construction of our new classrooms, auditorium and gymnasium. As the rain came down, the crew worked methodically through the day to unload and place the steel in its appropriate place in the construction zone. Faculty, students and visitors watched the process with fascination. What a happy day! After so many months of prayers, meetings and anticipation, the expansion to our current building is really happening.

Plant Sale on Mother’s Day Weekend

It’s Spring Fling Time!

Tickets are now available for the 2013 Calvary Lutheran High School Spring Fling on Saturday, April 27th. The evening begins at 4:00 pm with fellowship and bidding on Silent Auction items. Dinner is served at 5:30 and the Live Auction gets under way at 6:30. Close out the evening with a dance from 8:00-11:00 pm. This is Calvary’s largest fundraiser supporting the General Operations budget. It will be held at St. Martin’s Knights of Columbus Hall again this year. Ticket price are $50 per person and are available at the school.

Impacting Tomorrow…Today Groundbreaking

On March 17th, dreary weather could not dampen the spirits of all who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of construction. Three years and three days prior to this groundbreaking, Calvary broke ground for their current facility in the same weather. This portion of the school building includes additional classrooms, auditorium, gymnasium, storage and a kitchen. Construction will begin before the end of May.

Capital Campaign, Phase 2, Impacting Tomorrow…Today

Thank you to all who participated in the feasibility study for the second phase of our Capital Campaign last fall. Your input is very valuable to us. As a result, we are excited to move forward with phase two in Impacting Tomorrow…Today. The architects recently sent the latest rendering of what our expanded facility will look like. With a large jump in enrollment for next year, Calvary students will be very grateful for the additional classrooms, gymnasium and auditorium. Construction will begin before the end of May and completion is projected by the end of 2013. We ask for your continued prayers as we work toward the fulfillment of this project according to the Lord’s will.

Coat & Mitten Drive

The coat and mittens drive is under way. We are looking for any kind of winter clothes. All sizes and materials will be accepted. Place your coats and other items in the wrapped box just inside the school entrance. All items will be going to the Salvation Army Shelter before New Year’s Day. The last day to drop off items is December 20th, the last day of finals.

AG Science State Ruling

The MO Board of Education has written the language for the Ag Science rule for non-public schools. From now through January 2nd there is a comment period allowing anyone to share their thoughts about the rule. I would ask that you consider submitting a comment in support of this rule, which benefits students at Calvary.
