We Wish You A Merry Christmas!!

Posted on December 22, 2006 @ 12:06 pm - Filed under: Calvary News

With Christmas just around the corner, we here at Calvary Lutheran High School, thank God for His blessings for this school, for the committed parents, dedicated teachers and the supportive community.  We thank Him for the students He is sending to Calvary.  They are a joy to be around.  They are talented, intelligent, honest, happy and energetic.  If this sounds like a Thanksgiving letter, it is.  Thank you to you and yours as We Wish You A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

PS.  Mrs. Navarro (our Spanish Teacher) made taco’s for everyone for our Christmas Dinner here at school.  Did I tell you the teachers here are dedicated?  They are also loving.  Thank you Mrs. Navarro.

Happy, Merry, Blessed

This is my last day for 2006 so I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year. May God shower His blessings on all of us and point us the direction in which He wants us to go in 2007. May He spread His arms around our military wherever they are. May He relieve the pain of the sick and suffering. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas Concert — 2006

Posted on @ 12:41 pm - Filed under: Calvary News

December 12What an exciting evening!  I do not know who was more excited about Tuesdays performance, Mrs. Ahlers, the kids or me.  There were well over 100 family and friends present to listen to the concert.  The kids, under the direction of Mrs. Melisa Ahlers, did an awesome job.  Butterflies were obviously present but the kids had confidence in the her leadership.  I would imagine that there were a few popped buttons that night from some very proud parents.  I am not a school parent but I am just as proud in Calvary as any parent could be.

♫♫ Christmas Concert ♫♫

There is excitement in the air! The Christmas concert is tonight, December 12. I don’t know how much of this is necessarily from the students but I have butterflys. Mrs. Ahlers is doing such a wonderful job with these kids. I get excited every Tuesday and Thursday when she is here. I can hear the difference and improvement each time. I am sure that anyone attending tonight will agree with me. I can hardly wait.

We want to thank Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek for the Poinsettia sale held on December 10. All the proceeds were for Calvary Lutheran High School. From grapevine information, they sold 51 plants at $5.00 each. Sixty plants were donated by Trinklein Greenhouses also of Honey Creek. We thank all of the Trinkleins for their continued support of Calvary Lutheran High School .

Biscuits & Gravy……..

The multitude of supporters for the Calvary Lutheran High School fundraiser breakfast on Sunday, December 10th was amazing. Comments were good and the help was superb. It was interesting to be able to pick out area church participation, such as..well Faith services must be out because ……. is here and they go to Faith or here comes the Honey Creek crowd. What time do they have church service? These were just tidbits of conversation before the what would you like to have, scrambled eggs, ham or sausage or both, biscuits & gravy, pancakes? The proceeds from this is not known at this time but it had to be good and we thank everyone who participated in any way. The array of baked goods was stupendious. We thank God everyday for the support Calvary has. Without you we would not be here.

No Parade Entry for Calvary for 2006

Posted on December 5, 2006 @ 2:58 pm - Filed under: Calvary News

What a revolting development this is! Calvary will not be participating in the Jefferson City Jaycees Annual Christmas Parade for 2006. Why? The many parents who had volunteered to help with the parade on Saturday, December 2, cannot do it for the rescheduled date of this Saturday, December 9. It was not enough time to organize another group of these people to carry on. I was looking forward to helping and walking and whatever else needed to be done. I even had a friend of mine working on a costume for me. Guess I won’t need it now. Thank you to all of the parents, friends, students and volunteers for orchestrating this event. Maybe next year. We really needed the moisture the snow is providing and for this we Thank God.

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW

Posted on @ 12:42 pm - Filed under: Calvary News

That beautiful, white, fluffy stuff called snow brought the capitol city and surrounding areas down to their knees this last week. According to other people, it was 1995, when we had the last snow of this magnitude. I don’t remember it being that bad in ‘95. I do remember the one in the late seventies when it took me 5 hours to go 18 miles home. WoW!! If you can imagine, we had students here at Calvary hoping that they would have a snow day on Thursday. Guess what! They got their wish and more. Not only did they have 2 days in a row off for snow, it wasn’t free. It will be back to haunt them later. Why? There was only one day built into the schedule. Now they will have to give up a scheduled day off or come to school on a Saturday. Better be careful what you wish for.
