♪ In the Good Ole’ Summer Time ♪
The building at 900 Leslie Blvd, is very quiet this week. Mr. & Mrs. Ahlers are on vacation and I am here by myself. Creepy? Not at all. I am not alone. I hear the laughter and the voices bouncing off the walls. On May 25th, 2007, the door on the second school year for Calvary Lutheran High School closed. There were many mixed emotions, students as well staff. Some students were eager for the summer to begin, some were agitated, and some were already showing signs of being bored. Most of them would be working (yuk)! Some would be helping at home and still others would be babysitting younger siblings or neighbors kids. I’d rather be in school. Can you imagine that in just 2 more years, Calvary will be graduating their first class of seniors (2009). They have become part of the history and pioneers of Calvary Lutheran High School. First step, taking the brave walk by attending Calvary. They left old friends behind and were going to school in a one room school (eager, agitated, [some did not want to go there], bored). Do you see a trend? Second step, coming back for year two as a sophomore and the title of upperclassman. The one room school has changed to a new location with more rooms and more students, a designated lunch room and blackboards (my age is showing) in every room (eager). Now we sometimes move from room to room (agitated). I am an upperclassmen (big deal-bored). Wow! Third step, 2007-08, I am a junior, the upperclassmen, and I am a sophomore and now have earned the title of upperclassmen (eager). Juniors–just think how great it is to be the first example of the perfect upperclassman. You did not get the opportunity to observe what an upperclassmen was and how they were to act. But we have all been watching you grow. ☺It won’t be long and you will be back and the summer of 2007 will just be a thing of the past. Make the best of each day because you cannot relive yesterday. Look forward to your tomorrows and work hard toward your dreams.
