Volleyball Districts

Tuesday night Calvary took on New Haven for the first match at districts. The Lady Lions won the first set with no problem. The second set they let down their guard and lost, but came back to win the third set. That match advanced them to play again on Thursday against the number one seated Gateway Academy from St. Louis. They beat Gateway with no problem in the first two sets! They battled against Chamois for first place in the district. The Lady Lions could not hold a steady lead but won second place in districts! That’s astonishing for a first time varsity team participating in districts for the first time! ~ Michaela Cook

Moral Victory for Calvary’s Baseball Team

Posted on @ 2:04 pm - Filed under: Sports

The baseball tournament, September thirtieth did not end in a big win for Calvary’s baseball team.  Calvary played St. Elizabeth in the first round.  Calvary started to give up walks and lost 17-0.  Calvary, after a thirty-minute break, then played Iberia.  They pounced on us early.  Calvary’ pitchers didn’t do what they needed to do.  Calvary never gave up, but lost 15-0 to end the fall season.  Craig Wehmeyer, a player for Calvary’s baseball team, said, “We did good for our first tournament and improved for the spring.  It was our only tournament, but practice makes perfect.  In the spring we will come back better than ever.” ~ James Bernskoetter
