Lady Lions WIN! (9-12-07)

Posted on September 13, 2007 @ 7:04 am - Filed under: Sports

Calvary’s Lady Lions volleyball team played a great match against Helias’ Freshman squad.  Last night’s win against Helias’ freshman team was the most exciting volleyball of the season!  Helias held off the Lady Lions in the first game, 25-14.  The second and third games were controlled by the Lady Lions, 25-16 and 25-18.

Teamwork and hustle accurately describe this team.  Every player contributed to the wins, from Lauren Holland’s serving, Whitni Sommerer’s defense, Darci Gerity’s setting, Hannah Meyer’s spikes, Brianna Schulte’s net play, Michaela Cook’s relief off the bench, and Macy Propst’s passing.  Great defense kept the ball in play, while awesome serving added points to the score.

The Ladies played well and had a great time.  The fans were excited and cheered through the entire match!  The Lady Lions will be a team to watch this season.  Their schedule is posted on the website’s calendar.  Don’t miss a game!

Go Lady Lions!!!!!!

Spirit Week at Calvary

Posted on February 6, 2007 @ 1:21 pm - Filed under: Calvary News, Sports

Last week was Spirit Week at Calvary Lutheran High School.  A full week of fun and excitement.  The Leadership Class, under the direction of Denise Crider, were to have a special activity during the last period of the day.  Activities were flag football, kickball, pru-e, egg smashing, paint ball, airplane, chubby bunny, and T.P. Costume.  Each student earned points for their participation in each activity plus points for the effort they put into the dress-up days.  The Leadership students were to give a written paragraph about their particular activity such as:  1) how well did my project go;  2) how could I have made it better;  3) how prepared was I to do this activity;  4) how well did I handle participants.  Monday was Mismatch Day.  Tuesday was Someone Else day.  Wednesday was Sports Day and each student was to dress in honor of their favorite team or player.  Thursday was Twin Day and Friday was Calvary Day.  Friday night at Trinity Lutheran they played a basketball game against the Stover Bulldogs.  I hate to say it but we lost.  Drew Dusheke was awarded the most points for the gentlemen and Lauren Holland was awarded the most points for the ladies.  There were several other students who were within 1 to 3 points behind the winners.  Great job everyone!

WOW! What a record for the first year. The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions ended their year with a 6-2. The Vikings from LaMonte High School sent the Lady Lions home with their first loss of the year. It was a great year and better luck next year.

Lady Lions vs Lady Bulldogs at Stover

Posted on September 26, 2006 @ 1:03 pm - Filed under: Sports

Monday, September 25th.  It was a beautiful night for a drive through the back country and trails of Central Missouri.  Our unknown, never heard of, where are they from, Lady Lions were traveling to Stover to meet the Lady Bulldogs.  This was their very first volleyball game.  As you know, the games at Trinity Lutheran in early September were scrimmages (just practice games).  The lions were pumped and ready to go.  First serve of the game was a point from our own red number 14.  You will also see her wearing white number 10.  That point was only the first of many as they won the first 2 games.  For fun, they played a third game.  Guess what!  They won it also. Congratulations to our lady lioness.

First Lady Lions Volleyball Game

Tuesday, September 5, the Lady Lions volleyball team took part in scrimmage games at host school Trinity Lutheran. Our Lady Lions won two games and the Lady Tigers won two games. Spectators had a good time and the young men of the Calvary Pep Club were on hand to show support for their lady classmates. We have 10 young ladies playing volleyball this year. Good job Lady Lions!!
