Calvary Lutheran Choir

Calvary's choir consists of seventeen students who are directed by Mrs. Melisa Ahlers. This group gets to learn and perform songs, and just have fun! Along with the music pieces the choir gets to experience new instruments, and also learn some choreography for certain pieces. Some of the performances that have occurred are the Christmas program, a Reformation service, and several chapel performances for Trinity Lutheran, and Immanuel Lutheran Schools. There are always exciting performances to look forward to.

Choir Perfomances

Calvary's choir works very hard in preparation for their performances. One performance that took a lot of hard work was the spring concert. This concert included choreography with two of the pieces. The boys sang a piece called Goodnight Sweetheart and the girls sang Going to the Chapel. These pieces consisted not only of learning the music but also learning the choreography to go along with them. The chapel performance that was done for Trinity Lutheran School included sign language for Amazing Grace and Firm Foundation. The choir also performed at the first ever Calvary graduation ceremony. Although preparing for a performance can be a challenging time, it is also a lot of fun because they know once the performance arrives all the hard work will pay off and they will have a successful performance.

Mrs. Ahlers

Mrs. Ahlers is the director of Calvary Lutheran's choir. Mrs. Ahlers is a wonderful director because she works very hard with her students and is patient in teaching the choir new music, choreography, sign language, and the use of different musical instruments. She makes choir challenging, but at the same time, a fun class for the students. She is always smiling and in a good mood. Mrs. Ahlers also puts in time outside of school for the choir working with the programs, student solos, and also the quintet group.

Quintet Group

This group consists of five students from the choir. The quintet has practice after school for about 45 minutes once a week. They get to do the performances with the choir but they also do other separate pieces from the choir. They have had many great opportunities to perform what they are learning. Some of the opportunities the quintet has had is performing extra pieces within choir performances. During the Spring concert the quintet performed the song Dream. They also got to perform at Trinity Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran schools during chapel. For these chapel services they sang songs such as There is a Redeemer. This group also got to perform at two church services for Faith Lutheran Church. Another wonderful performance they were involved in was the Christmas concert. At the Christmas concert they sang Silent Night. The quintet group looks forward to and loves every opportunity they get to perform.
